Job Description:

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), is accepting applications for Fiscal Year 2025 Student Volunteers. This program offers valuable hands-on experience in federal IT operations. OCIO delivers innovative technology solutions, modernizes IT systems, and ensures secure, reliable services for over 15,000 DOL employees nationwide. Volunteers contribute to impactful projects and enhance their technical skills in a dynamic environment.
Investment Management: Ability to work well in a team environment Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a variety of audiences Excellent interpersonal skills A working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft: Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Students must have an academic background in information technology, business, or a related field. Enterprise Architecture: This internship provides excellent professional experience for students who are seeking or pursuing Computer Science, Data Science and Engineering degrees. As an intern in this role, you'll have an opportunity to leverage your degree experience. In this role, students will perform a variety of general information technology duties that include but are not limited to: Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining customer software. Implementing instructions, policies, procedures, and standards for information technology (IT) programs, services, operations, and/or customer support. Performing System Analysis for applications. Responding to and resolving customer requests for services. Assist and prepare design documents on assigned projects. Assist with day-to-day administrative operations by performing IT engineering related tasks or other functions. Assist in project oversight. Providing customer training on systems, applications, and equipment; and the work also consists of administrative related tasks in support of IT projects to include, AI, Machine Learning, research, drafting documents, as well as design and project management support. Enterprise Help Desk: Currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution. Interest in Information Technology, Customer Support, or a related field. Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment. Commitment to learning and supporting IT modernization efforts.
In order to be eligible for this opportunity you must be able to obtain academic credit from your institution OR a third-party stipend of at least $15.00 per hour or higher if the locality you are selected for has a higher minimum wage than $15.00. Duties include but are not limited to: DUTIES: Investment Management Intern Plan and complete work assignments on time in support of IT budget data calls, SLA and investment planning. Collect and analyze relevant information. Communicate relevant and accurate information, clearly and concisely during formal or informal meetings. Collaborate with others to accomplish goals. Contribute to team efforts. Use various enterprise tools and technology to prepare and share documents. DUTIES: Enterprise Architecture The work also consists of administrative related tasks in support of IT projects to include, AI, Machine Learning, research, drafting documents, as well as design and project management support. DUTIES: Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) Customer Support and Training Support Tier 2 desktop IT services for internal users.- Respond to and resolve customer service requests for IT support. Provide customer training on systems, applications, and equipment. Assist in the development and delivery of training materials and documentation for end users. Technical Operations Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain customer software. Assist with managing and maintaining IT asset inventories. Contribute to IT modernization initiatives, including network equipment refreshes and MS Teams implementation. Service Improvement and Knowledge Management Perform knowledge-centered service improvements and enhance the customer support experience. Participate in knowledge-centered service improvements and enhance customer support experiences. Professional Development Gain hands-on experience in IT service management and federal IT operations.
