The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) is accepting applications for Summer 2025 Student Volunteers. EBSA is responsible for protecting, educating and assisting the millions of workers, retirees, and their families covered by private retirement plans, health plans, and other welfare benefit plans.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is preferred. Ability to manage multiple assignments, projects and/or initiatives. Ability to analyze data and information. Ability to communicate with others and make presentations. An interest in public administration, public policy or public service. Ability to work effectively in an in-office, telework, or combination of both (hybrid) work setting (if applicable). Ability to work well in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to organize a variety of assignments simultaneously to meet deadlines.
In order to be eligible for this opportunity you must be able to obtain academic credit from your institution OR a third-party stipend of at least $15.00 per hour or higher if the locality you are selected for has a higher minimum wage than $15.00. Duties include but are not limited to: Reviews and analyzes multiple types of documents and reports of investigation to ensure that the documents are written in conformity with national enforcement policy. Records the data in an appropriate database, with supervisory/senior investigator assistance. Research policy, program issues, and questions that have been raised. Searches for and identifies relevant court cases, precedents and opinions, and other cases. Analyzes materials and reports findings; with supervisory/senior investigator assistance. Participates in conducting investigations. Includes analysis and gathering of evidence, and use of investigative techniques; with supervisory/senior investigator assistance. Performs other duties as assigned.
