Job Description:

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), International Labor Affairs Bureau (ILAB) is accepting applications for the Summer 2025 Student Volunteer Program. As an Intern within ILAB the incumbent will learn about our mission, which is to strengthen global labor standards; enforce labor commitments among trading partners; promote racial and gender equity; and combat international child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) is preferred. Ability to manage multiple assignments, projects and/or initiatives. Ability to analyze data and information. Ability to communicate with others and make presentations. An interest in public administration, public policy or public service. Ability to work effectively in an in-office, telework, or combination of both (hybrid) work setting (if applicable). Ability to work well in a team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to organize a variety of assignments simultaneously to meet deadlines
In order to be eligible for this opportunity you must be able to obtain academic credit from your institution OR a third-party stipend of at least $15.00 per hour or higher if the locality you are selected for has a higher minimum wage than $15.00. Duties are listed below: Working with the ILAB communications team, which oversees its website and social media as well as all the communications strategic planning and writing, including content creation, design, and social media management. Assisting in developing communications materials on ILAB programming, including innovative trade enforcement outcomes. Assisting in tracking Mexican labor reform and enforcement case outcomes using ILAB monitoring tools. If language ability permits, review of Mexican documentation to support analysis of allegations of union rights violations. Updating and maintaining spreadsheets, guidance, and resources with the Operations and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning teams. Helping conduct government cost estimates for procurements and review evaluation deliverables. Supporting ongoing stakeholder engagement efforts including updating and managing the stakeholder engagement trackers, communications with stakeholders about OTLA efforts, and project/initiative specific activities. Supporting the development and publication of the Department's List of Goods Produced by Child Labor or Forced Labor by working directly on research that contributes to the public's knowledge of goods produced with exploitative labor and global efforts to combat these practices. Strengthening and expanding the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning team's Knowledge Portal, which contains listings of ILAB's funded projects, project evaluations, and learnings and resources generated by these projects. Supporting the Technical Assistance and Cooperation Unit to develop outward facing materials regarding good practices in OCFT programming.
