The selective placement factor is: You are required to possess and maintain a current Universal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigerant Certification which includes completion 608 certification exam as a pre-qualification for this position (NOTE: This information must be in your resume, and you must attach a copy of your license to be eligible for this position). The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision performing duties such as: 1) Installing, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, a variety of systems components such as compressors, which include gear, reciprocating, centrifugal, or rotary pump and a variety of refrigerant controls such as those with low and high pressure side floats, automatic thermostatic expansion valves, capillary or choke types, and those base on volume or quantity changes; 2) Use trade tools and test equipment such as voltage, amperage, and ohm meters, electronic refrigerant leak detectors, temperature gauges, capacitors, and analyzers; AND 3) Following all guidelines and procedures pertaining to the use and handling of refrigerants in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations. You will diagnose, locate, and repair malfunctions to the main operating mechanical components of large, complex heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC).
You will perform maintenance, calibration, modification, installation, repair and replacement of analog and direct digital controls (DDC) systems and equipment.
You will conduct visual and audible examination of equipment components by applying prescribed test procedures and equipment, and by explorations of probable reasons for equipment failure.
You will interpret complex multi-view drawings, sketches, manufacture’s specification etc.
You will lubricate moving parts and replace air filters, v belts, electrical motors, pulleys, sheaves, bearings, fan shafts, etc.
You will test for refrigerant leaks and uses a refrigerant recovery/ recycling station, to Environmental Protection Agency standards to safely reclaim, recycle and store the refrigerant before repairs can be made.
