Job Description:
This position is located at Outdoor Recreation on Fort Wainwright, Alaska. This is an open continuous announcement with an initial cut-off date of 01/21/2025. Any eligible applicants who apply on or before this date will be forwarded to management for consideration. Referral lists will be issued after this date as positions become available. Up to 25% relocation, recruitment and/or retention incentive may be authorized. Eligible for 1.49% COLA.
Must have knowledge of wide range of recreation and sports activities, organization and structure of military units and installation sports program objectives, policies, methods and procedures to plan, organize, and coordinate activities, assist, guide and motivate military staff in carrying out their responsibilities. Must have basic understanding of budget and supply functions in order to prepare input and justification of funding for supplies and equipment. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing (English). Work experience or education directly related to the duties to be performed.* *If qualifying based on education, transcripts must be uploaded at the time of application for verification purposes. Highly Preferred: Candidates that possess highly preferred criteria and meet the minimum qualifications above will be referred to the hiring manager first. Criteria is verified within the application package. Possess at least one (1) year experience supervising NAF and/or APF employees. Possess at least two (2) years of experience with application of internal controls. Possess at least (2) years of experience with RecTrac POS. Possess a current Wilderness First Responder Certification. Possess experience facilitating outdoor adventure programming in cold weather climates.
Plans work schedules, approves or disapproves leave, determines performance objectives and rates performance.
Works in executing recreation events, programs and services to meet the recreational needs of a diverse patronage, including a variety of multi disciplinary events which involve a variety of activities.
Must be able to support the activity by applying a practical knowledge of recreational activities and skills in the use of recreation materials and facilities.
Recommends items of supplies, materials, prizes, decorations, refreshments, and equipment needed for program functions.
