Job Description:

Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations command (CNIC); NBK - Bremerton and Bangor.
Must be at least 16 years old. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license. Must be a responsible individual with a pleasant, courteous attitude who can communicate effectively with the public. A neat and clean appearance required. Incumbent will need to acquire a basic knowledge of the rules and practices of the equipment used. Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required. This position may require the incumbent to be available to work special events, weekends and holidays. Must possess a valid lifeguarding certification from a recognized agency or obtain it within 30 days of hire. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing. Must be knowledgeable of emergency water safety procedures. Performs housekeeping tasks for proper standards of cleanliness, free from hazards, sanitation and appearance of pool and related facilities. Must pass initial and annual swim test demonstrating ability to perform the work. Ability to perform the full range of lifeguarding duties. Knowledge of cash handling procedures. Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 50lbs independently and objects over 50lbs with assistance, while performing normal duties in the area.
Performs rescue work, promptly renders CPR or emergency first aid and calls for medical assistance as necessary Supervises swimmers for safety and crowd control Enforces safety and pool regulations Promptly reports safety hazards to supervisor Responsible for the cleanliness of the buildings and grounds in the pool area Responsible for testing chemical levels Provides instruction to youth and adults in incremental swim lessons/lifeguarding/CPR courses May assist with scheduled pool parties, after hours of operation or with base wide special events Schedule includes evenings and weekends Other duties as assigned
