Job Description:

This position is located in the Division of Nursing Services within the Phoenix Indian Medical Center, in Phoenix, AZ. The Nurse (Informaticist) provides leadership in all aspects of nursing informatics, including, planning, designing and development of information management processes and the selection and deployment of information technology application products for clinical services at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S), GS-0610:Note: Employees currently assigned to positions in this 0610 occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet one of the following requirements, OR Completed a degree from Foreign Nursing School and have an Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools. Licensure: Applicants must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications and Selective Placement Factor stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-13:Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assist nursing staff in the efficient use of the current software such as the Electronic Health Record. Has a working knowledge and experience in applications for reporting and deployment of health information technology applications. Developing and accessing clinical and information technology system policies and procedures for planning, development and enhancement of health related system technology applications and software. Master of Science Degree in Nursing Informatics is preferred. One year experience as a Nurse Informatics is highly desirable. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SPF): Certification - The following current and valid certification has been deemed a position requirement and must be met in order to qualify for this position. (You must provide evidence of meeting this SPF to be considered qualified.) Current and active national nursing specialty in Informatics Nursing from a national certifying body such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association (ANA). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Coordinates all clinical applications of information systems such as, the Electronic Health Record (EHR), Automated Data Transfer (ADT) and Staffing Operating System (ANSOS), with all clinical services, and clinical application coordinators. Provides Nursing expertise and leadership Improving Patient Care initiatives that depend on improvements specific to computer technology and information management. Facilitates the integration of data, information, and knowledge to support nurses in the direct provision of care to patients, families, and communities. Uses expert knowledge and experience to develop and implement policies procedures, training materials, and manuals to meet the standards of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
