Job Description
We are looking for a skilled DNS Engineer with hands-on experience in both DNS management and server-level support to maintain and troubleshoot DNS services, server infrastructure, and network configurations. This role will involve a combination of DNS configuration and management, server installations, physical hardware support, and troubleshooting at the server level.
The ideal candidate will be capable of resolving DNS issues, configuring DNS servers, and performing hands-and-feet support for hardware and network systems in a data center or on-site environment.
DNS Server Management & Configuration:
Install, configure, and maintain DNS servers (e.g., BIND, Microsoft DNS) for both internal and external domains. Configure DNS zones, records (A, CNAME, MX, PTR), and manage DNS resolution policies.
Implement DNS security protocols such as DNSSEC to protect against security threats, including spoofing and cache poisoning.
Monitor DNS server performance and troubleshoot any issues related to DNS resolution failures, DNS server errors, and query performance.
Perform root cause analysis on DNS-related issues, including network-related DNS failures and incorrect configurations.
Optimize DNS query performance and ensure high availability and redundancy of DNS services.
Provide physical support for DNS server installations and configurations, including hardware setup, cabling, and device rack-and-stack.
Handle hardware maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacements, including server power cycling, reboots, and other physical management tasks.
Assist in the setup and decommissioning of DNS servers, managing both hardware and software aspects in data centers or client environments.
Continuously monitor DNS performance and availability using monitoring tools and alerting systems.
Provide regular reports on DNS server performance, uptime, troubleshooting activities, and DNS-related incidents.
Maintain logs of server changes, DNS configurations, and other key activities for audit and troubleshooting purposes.
Server & Infrastructure Support:
Support server-related tasks, including server installation, configuration, and upgrades, in addition to DNS server management.
Collaborate with system administrators and network engineers to ensure that DNS servers are properly integrated into the broader IT infrastructure.
Troubleshoot and resolve server issues affecting DNS, including network connectivity problems, hardware failures, and software conflicts.
