Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Fine Art, Graphic Art, Commercial Art or a related field appropriate to work of the position; AND THREE YEARS of experience in the occupation; OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Must have proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite of products as well as ability to quickly adapt to new technology that may be adapted by the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft business software is essential. Knowledge of methods and procedures of all visual information media techniques and production such as electronic media imaging, editing and on-location and studio still photography, videography, computer and manual graphic arts and the resource requirement for their accomplishment. Eligible for incremental telework as determined by MR/MF policy.
Serves as Media Specialist within the Business and Support Services Division (MR), Headquarters Marine Corps. Creates, plans, designs and prepares graphic representations for a variety of branding, marketing, and program/product promotions. Employs extensive use of computer graphics systems, or comparable state-of-the-art equipment, to generate required graphics. Responsible for the design and production of branding and marketing materials including print collateral, interactive presentations, exhibit displays, interior and exterior signage, posters, websites, social media assets, advertisements, mobile apps and long and short form videos. Develops artwork into various media including print, video, animation, etc. as per the project requirements. Must be proficient with the development of camera-ready print files of both spot-color and CMYK color, extensive knowledge of video production and digital printing processes. Facilitates consistency across local field command's advertising and marketing materials. Provides creative guidance and graphic assistance to field command's personnel on projects that communicate specific messaging, plans and projects. Selects, analyzes, recommends and obtains cost estimates from outside vendors for approved project services such as photographers, product manufacturers, and printers. Prioritizes, tracks, handles, and maintains records of the elements, costs, and timelines of multiple projects while working within a defined budget. Directs and provides artistic guidance to external contractors to include design conference meetings, mock-up designs, follow up phone discussions and online meetings. Ensures contractor's proofs are correct and support brand standards. Responsible for final approval of all artwork before printing and production. Designs and manages production of advertising circulars, direct mail, and other promotional materials. Photographs on-site projects using advanced photography knowledge and skills. Conducts in-person photographic or videographic direction to include model poses, expression, interaction, lighting, background, props. Stylizes and sets-up product still photography shots and video shoots. Utilizes photo editing software for color correction and image manipulation on all final photographs to support pre-press standards. Selects and purchases stock photography for advertising materials and manages a full photo library. Archives and maintains digital copies of final, completed artwork and photography files. Defines, documents, implements and supports continued graphic design process improvement. Meets with internal branches, organizations and departments as well as external constituents regarding project specifications, including content, graphic direction, materials selection, output recommendations, timelines, and media requirements. Performs other related duties as assigned. May travel to complete work assignments. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.
