About the Position: This position is an Motor Vehicle Operator located with Defense Health Agency Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Facility Management, Oceanside California, approximately 45--50 miles north of San Diego.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex operation of one or more types of gasoline, diesel or electric powered wheeled vehicles with gross vehicle weight of up to 26,000 pounds. I am skilled in the operation of a service truck/utility vehicle. I am able to safely operate passenger vans and buses. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Related to Mobile Equipment Operation) Ability to Operate Safely (Non-motor Vehicles) Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Effort: Driver exerts moderate physical effort in operating and maneuvering the vehicle in and out of constricted areas including narrow city streets on and near the post and congested hospital and clinic parking lots. May be required to maneuver vehicles over uneven terrain, improved or unimproved roads, and through congested areas exercising caution when backing to load or unload at docks, ramps, and similar locations. Lifting and carrying supplies, materials and equipment weighing up to 40lbs is required. Occasionally, may handle items weighing over 40lbs. Working Conditions: Driver operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads and are exposed to danger of serious accidents. Routes are over public roads at controlled speeds to ensure the passengers' safety and comfort. Portions of the route may be driven at highway speeds. The buses are operated under non-emergency and emergency circumstances, such as in a mass casualty event.
Operate vehicles on and off post.
Operate passenger vans and parking lot shuttles to pick up and transport ambulatory patients, hospital staff and visitors to facilities from various parking lots and op post facilities.
Pick up and deliver a variety of items such as supplies and equipment items.
Drive a variety of vehicles assigned to the Directorate of Branch Clinics.
Operate motor vehicles that include 36 to 45 passenger buses, 5, 8, 12 and 15 passenger vans; pick-up trucks, sedan, stake and platform trucks, 2- and 5-ton trucks with hydraulic lift gates, and special purpose vehicles.
Move items from storage to truck and from truck to destinations on post.
May be required to maneuver vehicles over uneven terrain, improved or unimproved roads and through congested areas exercising caution when backing to load or unload at docks, ramps, and similar locations.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
