Job Description:

The incumbent is a member of a patient care team that will perform basic care services and technical tasks under the direction of the Medical Doctor (MD)/Licensed Health Care Provider and under the supervisory direction of the Supervisory Registered Nurse. This position is in the Internal Medicine Outpatient Department and includes the Emergency Department, within the Division of Nursing, of Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Chinle, Arizona.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Reviewing patient reason for visit and patient charts to determine appropriate services; Documenting patient information into electronic health record; Assisting with cleaning, irrigating and dressing complex wounds; Performing subcutaneous, intramuscular injections and immunization as ordered. Providing comprehensive care to patients. Participating in ongoing quality improvement activities. GS07:Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Participating in pre-visit planning for scheduled patients; Conducting intake procedures; Providing pre-treatment, treatment, and post treatment evaluation of patients; Preparing all specimens for lab processing; Providing health care to a range of patients; Preparing and administering prescribed medication. Performing venipuncture of blood draws; Administering prescribe oxygen and respiratory treatments. OR Completed 1 year (18 semester hours) of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position AND SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR In addition to the minimum requirements, the following certification is determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Applicants must possess an educational achievement by a certified agency appointed to safeguard the public interest and provide proof of Certified Medical Assistant through a recognized training institute such as American Association of Medical Assistants or similar registered credential. Applicants who do not meet the selective placement factor are ineligible for further consideration. Completed a state-approved education program and pass the state's competency exam Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Participates in pre-visit planning for scheduled patients. Incorporate and applies protocols in health promotion for well populations and treatment intervention for chronic conditions. Prepares all specimens for laboratory processing, preserves biological material in accordance with protocol procedures. Prepares and administers prescribed medication appropriately by oral, topical, intradermal, subcutaneous and Intramuscular routes. Administer prescribed oxygen and respiratory therapy treatments. Prepares required medical supplies and equipment necessary for such procedures. Ensures medical records are prepared and available.
