Job Description:

ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Southwest Region, Phoenix Area-Administrative Services, Supai Health Clinic. Position is located in Supai, Arizona. Position is supervised by the Administrative Officer. Primary position is to perform as a receptionist, registration, records maintenance, and a variety of clerical duties associated with ambulatory care.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-5: One year (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: Knowledge of medical, technical, or specialized terms when communicating with patients and professional staff to explain regulations and procedures; Use of automated patient registration systems to update patient records. OR Education: Have 4 years above the high school level. (Must submit copy of transcripts). OR GS-6: One (1) year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples include: Interview and update pertinent patient information, make appointments. Records, processes, transmit and distributes vendor and patient correspondences. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Major Duties: Receives telephone calls and visitors concerned with a variety of matters. Reviews Resources Patient Management System (RPMS) for benefit eligibility for patients seeking health care. Assists with scheduling appointments. Utilizes the automated timekeeping system ITAS and maintains Time & Attendance records for the primary care clinic staff. **This position is being announced concurrently under Excepted Service Examining Plan/Merit Promotion Plan (ESEP/MPP) procedures.
