About the Position: This position functions as the first layer of defense in a security-in-depth concept to deter, detect, delay, assess, respond, and unauthorized access. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting with various tasks such as guard coverage and regulation and/or procedure explanation; AND 2) Assisting (OR) independently guarding an Access Control Point with little or no supervision. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Access Control Operations Computer Literacy Incident Response Interpersonal Skills Managing Human Resources Oral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Serves as a Shift Leader who is an assistant to the Guard Shift Supervisor.
Makes daily assignments to ensure that guard coverage is provided to assigned patrol areas.
Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques and provides on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures.
Checks on work in progress to ensure supervisor's instructions on work sequence procedures are met.
Makes note of work not meeting established requirements and refers problem matters to the supervisor.
Performs with little or no supervision installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirement as a guide to access determination for unique circumstances.
Authenticates identification through use of electronic Personnel Access Control Systems (ePACS), identification cards, badges, biometric automated records, verbal questioning, and other means.
Validates entry requests through the use of ePACS and grants access to persons and vehicles with appropriate authorizations.
Responsible for performing and resolving a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments.
Serves as a member of the installation's overall security response capability during actual or simulated incidents.
