Job Description:

This is a public notice flyer to notify applicants of anticipated vacancies in the Naval Acquisition Development Program (NADP) with Naval Sea Systems Command. In addition to the Basic Education Requirements listed below, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to: GS-09 Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Practical knowledge of conventional methodology to perform relatively routine engineering projects. GS-07 Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Ability to apply standard engineering practices, methods and techniques to perform relatively limited engineering work. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: General Schedule Qualification Standards and Naval Architecture Series 0871 Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will perform a variety of engineering duties in support of a senior architect who is responsible for one or more engineering functions (e.g., research, design, development, construction, testing, arrangement, installation, maintenance).
You will prepare design studies; develop plans, profiles, graphical studies, calculations, and layouts.
You will develop rough drafts of assigned sections of detail Specifications and Circulars of Requirements for building and/or converting ships.
You will develop study schemes and contract plans for mechanical systems; prepare rough draft of detail specifications, including installation of systems.
You will analyze research data and technical reports and apply results to design calculations.
You will visit field and contractor activities for orientation purposes and to obtain information; study technical reports and publications, attend meetings and conferences, and exchange information with other engineers.
