Job Description:

Who may apply: Current, permanent DFAS employees in the competitive service, eligible DoD PPP Military Spouse preference applicants and current DFAS VRA employees.
Qualified applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12) in the Federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Specialized Experience is defined as: Applying comprehensive knowledge of financial management policies, laws and regulations to advise on financial issues, programs, and systems; recommending solutions to technical and policy problems; and assisting in the management of organizational wide financial management programs, missions or functions to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and service provided to customers. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Reviews suspenses, requests for information, special projects; etc., coming into the Director’s office or from the Director. Personally handles the action required or makes assignment to the appropriate office.
Acts on Director’s behalf in responding to inquiries made to Director’s level and in participating in meetings, briefings, and conferences.
Coordinates taskings with the supported organizations, other locations and external sources as necessary to ensure fully staffed responses, recommendations, and options.
Conducts analyses and studies at that request of the Director. Monitors major projects within the supported organizations, reviews policies and directives for effectiveness and timely accomplishment of such projects.
Develops and forecasts staffing plans as needed. Ensures consistency and accuracy of joint and service manpower documents.
Conducts reviews, analyzes data and mediates resolutions, and coordinates and oversees resolution of significant issues.
Participates and executes all aspects of the program within cost, schedule, performance, and/or system supportability requirements.
