Job Description:
Who may apply: Current, permanent DFAS employees in the competitive service and current DFAS VRA employees in the local commuting area and eligible DoD PPP Military Spouse preference applicants.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience Defined As: Providing expert knowledge of financial standards and principles to effectively analyze financial operations by applying applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures to resolve issues relating to debt and claims operations Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Develops policies, coordinates, and performs all functions for the organization at all levels of serviced installations.
Conducts analysis to determine the effectiveness of operations, compliance with established policies and procedures, reliability of transactions and validity of supporting documentation.
Advises senior leaders of findings and recommendations for corrective action and coordinates with Defense Agencies to improve organizational processes.
Develops recommendations for actions under uncertain conditions and short and rapidly changing program deadlines, facilitates the resolution of controversial payroll problems for the serviced organizations.
Reviews annual internal and external customer surveys and takes appropriate actions to improve results.
Plans, manages and supervises the assigned division staff which consists of technical and clerical (GS-05/GS-06 or GS-07/GS-08) personnel.
