You will serve as a MANAGER at the Acoustic Trials Detachment (ATD) for the Signature Measurement and Lab Tracking Systems Branch Titusville Detachment Code 7341. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15.
This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled by a General Engineer (0801 series), Physics (1310 series), Computer Scientist (1550 series) depending upon the qualifications of the candidate. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist leading or executing technical objectives to develop acoustic sonar/sensor technology measurement systems for support of in-water and on-shore equipment installation, maintenance and operations. You will serve as the Section Head Supervisor for Code 7341 at the Acoustic Trials Detachment (ATD).
You will serve in a first level supervisory responsibility for approximately 15 engineers and scientists.
You will work with the Code 734 Branch Head to support employee development including mentoring, identification of advancement opportunities and work assignments.
You will act as a liaison with NUWC AUTEC representatives to coordinate South Tongue of the Ocean Acoustic Measurement Facility (STAFAC) installations, maintenance activities and operations.
You will be responsible for review and approval of travel authorization, voucher and compensatory time requests for assigned employees.
You will provide leadership for in-water and on-shore equipment installation, maintenance and operations.
You will contribute to the execution of technical objectives while ensuring compliance with safety, security and organizational Standard Operating Procedures.
You will participate in acoustic trials as a member of the lab tracking and data acquisition team.
You will require strong supervisory and management skills.
You will require knowledge in radiated, sonar self-noise and structure borne noise measurement systems and measurement techniques, data analysis and reporting requirements.
You will require working knowledge of acoustic sensor technology, underwater acoustic signal processing, and systems engineering principles.
You will require working knowledge of fundamental systems engineering principles.
You will require experience in data acquisition, processing, and analysis systems used in full scale acoustic measurements.
You will require extensive experience with the installation and operation of in-water measurement and tracking systems.
You will require experience in verbal and written communication with senior leadership, NAVSEA leadership and other external stakeholders.
