About the Position: This position is located with Desmond T. Doss Health Clinic Schofield Barracks, HI. in the Sport Medicine Department. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Monitoring patient vital signs to ensure conditions are stable; Preparing patients for medical procedures; Providing post-procedure care to patients; AND ensuring medical exam rooms are sterile prior to and/or during procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as, healthcare administration and/or biological/physical sciences. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
The incumbent obtains vital signs, chief complaint(s) and/or patient history following clinic guidelines.
Prepares patients for examinations, minor procedures and clinical treatments by instruction of Physician, Orthopedic Physician Assistant, and/or Podiatrist.
Assist Physicians, Orthopedic Physician Assistant, Podiatrist with examinations, treatments and procedures including assistance with instrument, injections, dressings, medication, diagnostic studies, biological specimens and patient treatment.
Prepares treatment areas, ensuring that supplies and instruments/equipment are available and properly functioning and that treatment area is clean.
Acts as first assistant to Orthopedic Physician, Orthopedic Physician Assistant, Podiatrist, or Orthopedic Residents in performing injections, reductions and minor surgical procedures.
