THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: 103d Maintenance Squadron (103d MXS), East Granby, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the CTANG. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the CTANG. Area 3: Individuals eligible for membership in the CTANG. Membership must be satisfied within four (4) months of selection.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 36 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to plan and organize work of the assigned repair organization. Ability to meet deadlines. Knowledge of aircraft engine and repair functions. Ability to work with others. Ability to oversee and train subordinate supervisors, to deal objectively with workers and render sound supervisory decisions. Ability to devise new methods. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of AFSC. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examination prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders in accomplishing the work of the Propulsion Elementand to perform associated non-supervisory work. The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Engine Mechanic, WG-8602-10. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Assigns tasks to be performed. Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Performs the non-supervisory work of the Propulsion Element. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works assignments are performed indoors and outdoors in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperature extremes. The incumbent is subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces (landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps), engine noise, heat blast, intake suction, rotating propellers, explosive munitions, electrical voltage, cartridge actuating devices, liquid oxygen, fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents. PHYSICAL EFFORT: The incumbent is required to climb, stoop, stand, bend, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Incumbent lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds and may be required to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance from other workers or weight handling equipment.
