THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1566P01 and is part of the IL 182 AW, National Guard.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code ยง 709), will be in the following manner and sequence: The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.: Military Grades: Officer/Enlisted - Minimum rank requirement of SMSgt & May not exceed the rank of Maj; May be a commissioning opportunity. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-12 Level - MUST have at least 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that requires adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. SPECIALIZED SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: MUST possess specialized supervisory experience for the GS-12 Level, which includes experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. As a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK) (TITLE 32), GS-2210-12, you will supervise, direct and manage employees who provide technical and administrative support to customers in a wide variety of areas to include information technology systems, telecommunications systems management, training management, personnel management and information management. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Direct the planning, engineering, testing, evaluation, modification, security and reporting of the full range of C-E (Communications-Electronics) equipment and systems. Plan, develop, and implement local policies, procedures, and goals for effective administration, direction, management, and operation of section. Ensure the proper use, management, and training of all supervised personnel, consisting of multiple technical disciplines. *6. Practice efficient position management and ensure position descriptions of subordinates are accurate. Prepare and submit budget estimates and revisions for the procurement, installation, and operation/maintenance of equipment and supply items. Maintain current information on system/equipment status, modifications, and related matters through on-site visits and use of unit support functions in order to analyze and report the organizations mission support posture. Establish and implement Customer Service Center (Help Desk) to receive trouble calls and complaints from all supported customers. Consult with users and managers to determine specific locations and requirements for the particular system installation. Direct, recommend, and implement remedial actions to correct problems or deficiencies. Consider and advise all participants (internal and external), suppliers, and contractors of changes and coordinates changes to reprogram or reschedule intended projects to meet mission requirements. Provide highly complex technical and operational solutions that support unique command and control telecommunications systems requirements. Ensure formulation of comprehensive training plans for each function and specialty within the section. Provide work force guidance on safety matters and ensure safe work practices are utilized. Establish work performance standards and discuss and assign annual performance evaluations.
