Job Description:

You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the Waterfront Engineering Services Branch (TRF-411), Engineering and Scientific Services Division (TRF-410), Planning Department (TRF-400) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.
GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience provides and manages the identification, evaluation, and resolution of waterfront technical problems, test, and documentation deficiencies. Experience serves as a technical expert in resolving Departure from Specification (DFS) requests related to repair and maintenance actions. Experience offers expert knowledge of shipbuilding and repair methods, principles, and practices for mechanical, hull, and electrical systems as applied at the intermediate maintenance activity or shipyard level. Experience includes practical knowledge of engineering standards and acceptance criteria, gained through hands-on application and experience. Experience brings extensive technical expertise, knowledge, and abilities in the specialty area of shipbuilding and repair, requiring the practical application of empirical methods and techniques. This includes a working knowledge of scientific principles, particularly those in mathematics, physical and engineering sciences, as well as fundamental engineering concepts and terminology, and their interrelationship with other branches of engineering. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience requires an understanding and the ability to apply basic procedures and policies of the organization and the field of work. Experience ensures routine tasks are executed with independence and minimal supervision. Experience enables the review of work for technical accuracy and compliance with regulations. Experience includes the ability to interpret guidelines and exercise judgment in selection. You will provide subject matter expertise for submarine machinery, systems and equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic and oxygen systems.
You will provide technical and authoritative assistance on urgent mission-degrading production related problems.
You will troubleshoot complex mechanical system/equipment problems.
You will make recommendations to Engineering for diagnostic and operability tests.
You will provide production repair guidance to the repair department for the resolution of repair/overhaul or test/grooming problems beyond their level of in-house production shop expertise.
