About the Position: This position is located at Bassett Army Community Hospital in Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to lead or supervise as a Cook Supervisor. I have the ability to perform common Cook Supervisor duties. I can prepare and cook any or all food items in bulk quantities or individual servings. I can determine preparation quantities needed for daily service. I can assign daily work duties and taskings of operation for subordinates within customary work cycles. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Work involves lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, standing, and walking. Must be able to lift 40 pounds and can lift heavier objects with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee is exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold temperatures, must stand on tile floor, subject to burns, cuts and other injuries from hand tools or power equipment. Required to work at any Cadet Mess facility, including off post camps. The employee is required to wear protective shoes, appropriate hearing protection, and gloves or other safety and food handling items required by food handling guides.
Oversee subordinates to ensure they are demonstrating proper work methods, personal safety, food handling and safety, and the quality of food packaged and produced.
Prepare and cook any or all food items in bulk quantities or individual servings for regular and/or modified diets required for morning, noon, evening, late meals, and/or special feedings.
Implement provisions or personnel management programs where well -established procedures exist in the organization.
Assure that equipment and supplies are maintained and used properly.
Determine the quantities for which preparation must be made based on projected headcount.
Implement cost control measures through adequate planning and providing provisions for sanitation and security of food service areas, daily.
