Job Description:

This AIRPLANE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR position is located at the unit level in the ANG Aviation Wing, Operations Group at selected Air Combat Command (ACC) and Air Education Training Command (AETC) gained flying units in the Air National Guard (ANG) and is part of the CA 144 FW.
General: Must possess a Federal Aviation Administration certification awarded from an accredited civilian aviation program or an aviation certification from an accredited military aviation school. AIRPLANE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, GS-2181-13: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level, and at least two years working in civilian aviation programs; or, military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components); or, in the Army National Guard Aviation Support facility; or, Air National Guard Wing/ Operations Group experience in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information; Experience training and instructing others in the piloting of a specified main-frame military aircraft; Experience in supervising and/or conducting mission planning, mission preparations, filing of flight plans, and conducting crew briefings; Experience in applying directives, regulations, accident reports, safety data, and local operating conditions to determine unit safety program requirements; Experience in aviation unit quality control management programs, Experience in the unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with Department of the Air Force, National Guard Bureau, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration directives. Must be able authorized and rated to operate F-15 fighter aircraft. THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the AIRPLANE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, GS-2181-13, is to provide ground and flight instruction in high performance, military fighter aircraft F-15 weapon system. In addition to flying training responsibilities, flight instructors perform assignments related to the operational readiness of their unit and administrative tasks in support of the Operations Group program. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.
