About the Position: Serves as a project manager responsible for managing the efficient and effective coordination and accomplishment of the planning, scoping, design, construction, and direction of assigned Corps of Engineers Military, Environmental, and/or Interagency Support (IAS) projects. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Physical Scientist: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. (You must include a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (You must include a copy of your transcripts.) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing projects within environmental compliance, environmental remediation or military munitions response (including Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and/or Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)) projects involving stakeholders, which include Tribal entities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Serve as a project manager, responsible for the overall management, control, coordination and execution of assigned programs and projects.
Coordinate the planning, design, cost engineering, construction, and environmental considerations, etc., for projects of varying scope and complexity.
Control and manage project milestones and budgets from initial studies through design, construction, and initial operations.
Responsible for keeping the customer fully informed of project progress, issues and their resolution, and any impacts on costs.
Represent the District Commander and serve as the district's primary point of contact for assigned projects with customer(s), Federal, state and local government agencies, Congressional interests, etc.
