THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 5 PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) (MI J9 JFHQ), Position Description Number T0028P01 and is part of the MI JFHQ Army, National Guard.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Months Required: 12 Months specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. GS-09 - 1 year specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various social science resources. Experience utilizing the organization, its mission and the organizational staff procedures. Experience interacting with a variety of groups and/or individuals; and the ability to apply analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems of a social science procedural or factual nature. GS-11 - 1 year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Experience, education or training analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various social science resources. Must have knowledge of the organization and its mission and utilized the organizational staff procedures. Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of social science program operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions.
***THIS IS A TITLE 5 EXCEPTED NATIONAL GUARD POSITION*** This position is located at the ANG Wing with/or without geographically separated units (GSU)/ ARNG Region located in a State that is divided into multiple regions (within the State) not servicing one specific BDE. This position serves as the implementer of the Integrated Primary Prevention (IPP) Program. Due to the specialty nature of these roles this position reports to the Joint Force Headquarter Primary Prevention Officer. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Primary Prevention Specialist in a developmental capacity, performing assignments designed to further develop applicable analytical and evaluative skills and techniques. This is a developmental position leading to the full performance position description T0028000. All training must be completed, and regulatory requirements met prior to non-competitive promotion. 1. Performs developmental assignments of moderately difficult and complex nature consisting of well-precedented tasks designed to orient the employee in the application of harm and abuse prevention programs and activities. Assignments are combined with training to develop analytical skills and techniques used to resolve issues or problems of a procedural or factual nature. Individual projects can be performed utilizing established, commonly applied methods. 2. Performs recurring assignments. Independently performs work assignments which gradually increase in difficulty and complexity. Incumbent determines the practices and procedures used in accomplishing conventional tasks and interprets and adapts guidelines in order to resolve procedural or factual issues. 3. Carries out special projects and participates in special initiatives and studies. Performs special assignments in support of the organization; e.g., researching policy and comparing to new or modified guidelines to assess impact; analyzing and providing substantive evaluation of data affecting program operations; developing reports and briefings outlining study findings and recommendations; preparing and coordinating reference papers and documentation to support project initiatives; presenting reports to a variety of audiences; and performing analysis and providing recommendations to resolve issues. 4. Prepares written correspondence and other documentation. Drafts or prepares a variety of documents to include newsletter items, responses to routine inquiries, reports, letters, and other related documents. Uses software such as word processing, spreadsheets, program language, plotting software, etc., to facilitate work. 5. Performs other duties as assigned.
