Job Description:
This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY SURFACE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D1252000 and is part of the NJJFHQ, National Guard. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a supervisor and technical authority over one or more ARNG surface maintenance facilities (e.g., CSMS, MATES, UTES, and/or FMS).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have the following experience(s): Knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings Using specifications and test instruments Making computations, and keeping records Using computer and automation systems SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 36 months of the following experience(s): In determination of resource needs, allocation of resources, and budgeting/funding needs. In applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment, facility, or service operations sufficient in planning assignments. Using well-established occupational methods and techniques to determine facility, grounds, equipment overhaul, maintenance, restoration, repair needs, etc. In human resources management policy matters affecting the entire organization, with personnel actions affecting key employees to include experience coordinating work forces and resources and negotiating with management or clients concerning problems
As a SUPERVISORY SURFACE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST, GS-1601-11, you will: Provide direction to ensure the correction of noted deficiencies. Recommend plans to enhance manpower utilization and cost-effectiveness throughout areas assigned. Plan and develop schedules and agendas for shop meetings and responsible for coordinating details. Identify special tools, test equipment requirements, and coordinate procurement as needed. Coordinate manpower data collection for assigned units. Recommends plans to enhance manpower utilization and cost-effectiveness throughout areas assigned. Identify and provide for employee training and development. Find ways, as needed, to improve production or increase the quality of work directed. Develop performance standards.
