Serves as a Maintenance Worker in the Maintenance and Operation (M&O) section within the Engineering Services, at the Marion Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, IL.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The work requires a considerable amount of standing, stooping, bending, climbing, and working and tiring and/or uncomfortable positions. The incumbent may work from ladders and scaffolding. The incumbent carries, lifts and handles parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and may occasionally exceed 50 pounds.
The incumbent serves as a member of the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) sectionMajor duties include but are not limited to: operate and use a wide variety of specialty woodworking machines and tools plan and layout carpentry projects constructing, altering, repairing and/or modifying framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, rough furniture, interior/exterior trim, staircases, trusses and beams Plan, measure and layout carpentry materials by interpreting complex or incomplete instructions, sketches, blueprints and building codes repair pluming system of installing, modifying and repairing new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems.
