About the Position: As a Public Safety Dispatcher the incumbent will provide emergency police, fire and medical services to the public by answering 911 calls, and dispatches appropriate personnel and equipment. Maintains an accurate status of emergency response equipment and personnel to assure prompt and accurate response.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) operating automation, emergency dispatching, and communications equipment; (2) questioning callers to determine problems and nature of calls to respond with appropriate emergency personnel/equipment; (3) accomplishing several tasks at one time such as operating radios, telephones, and typing; (4) communicating effectively with police, fire, or medical personnel during emergencies.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision Making Listening Manages and Organizes Information Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
Answer 911 calls, conduct emergency call processing using Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) consoles or CAD through NG911 and or Land Mobile Radios (LMR).
Perform caller interrogation to determine type response to dispatch police, fire, and EMS personnel and vehicles/apparatus as needed.
Monitor the installation/facility integrated alarm system to dispatch appropriate response.
Operate various communication equipment, systems and databases such as crash phones, Language Line, Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf, radio systems, Mass Warning and Notification System, among others.
Provide technical communications coordination between the safety office, emergency operations centers, fire departments, police departments, physical security personnel, and Access Control Points personnel, for all life safety emergencies.
Maintain a variety of records, reports and logs in support of emergency services operations for compliance, reporting, inquires, and statistical data purposes.
Maintain records, reports, and logs on all communication traffic, assigned vehicle movements, patient transport, personnel, and vehicle status in accordance with operational policies and procedures
