These positions are located within the Gateway National Recreation Area. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is May to November but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May.
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order) SCREEN OUT: Worked as a Tractor Operator or in a similar position responsible for operating a variety of farm-type tractors and towed or attached equipment to maintain grounds and road medians and / or perform farming functions. Incumbents responsible for operating various types of equipment including, but not limited to tractors, skid steers, forklifts (including steer forklifts), snowplows, grass cutters, and carts. Incumbent's duties include operating wheel mounted tractors and towed or attached equipment to perform tasks, including transporting materials and equipment, beach raking, towing, digging, loading, planting, clearing or mowing Operators maintain grounds and roads under various conditions including mud, wet ground, and sand. Incumbent responsible for determining the appropriate attachments and / or apparatus needed to perform assigned tasks in a safe manner. Responsible for performing routine maintenance on various motorized equipment in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and supervisor's request ensuring equipment is kept in working condition.
