About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Joint Personal Property Shipping Offices-Mid Atlantic, Fort Belvoir, VA.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Using automated systems to manage transportation services. 2. Coordinating with transportation personnel to ensure smooth shipments. 3. Preparing documents for shipments/transportation related activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service Information Management Technical Competence Transportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
Performs pre-audits on contractor invoices/bills to ensure accuracy in rates, service, and authorization.
Receives, reviews, and processes correspondence, official orders, and applications to move property from residences and non-temporary storage.
Determine and/or advise entitlements or procedures related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowances; prohibited items; and shipment of personal property including various methods available.
Prepares vehicle worksheet providing special location codes, vehicle description, and any special handling requests.
Forward appropriate advance documents to other transportation offices for movement of property both overseas and within the continental United States.
Determine the most efficient and economical rates and routes for shipment and/or storage of household goods, unaccompanied baggage, personal effects, and/or mobile homes.
