You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Assessing traffic conditions and hazards locally and over long distance routes; 2) Using safety rules and regulations to operate vehicles such as, semi-tractor-trailers, heavy duty flatbed trucks, heavy fuel tank trucks, heavy straight in-line trucks, heavy duty tow trucks, heavy vacuum trucks, crane trucks, heavy duty waste disposal/trash collection trucks and vehicles weighing more than 32,000 pounds; and 3) Selecting routes based on hazardous conditions and laws restricting use of roads based on size of trucks. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume. You will maneuver trucks (e.g., pickup, dump truck, water trucks, fork lifts, platform trucks) in close quarters or confined areas maintaining the safety of the vehicle and driver.
You will operate motor vehicles with an approximate gross weight up to 32,000 pounds when transporting hazardous waste or materials.
You will load and arrange cargo for safe transit on public roads at highway speeds or similar driving circumstances.
You will follow established practices to provide continuously safe and reliable operation of vehicles and equipment.
