About the Position: Serves as a District resource for interior design issues during design, construction, and installation of FF&E. Mentors and is a team leader for lower graded interior designers. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1. Creating and developing complete interior designs, considering agency criteria, function, user needs, energy use, building codes, durability and life cycle costs, effective use of space planning, aesthetics and economics. 2. Preparing complete Comprehensive Interior Design (CID) packages to accompany the building design. 3. Regularly prepare presentation materials to help customers visualize interior finish and furniture selections. 4. Preparing interior design contract documents using Revit and stays current with the new uses and applications. 5. Resolving interior design problems that arise during the construction phase and oversee the Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) phase. 6. Managing projects, develop cost estimates, evaluate bid proposals, visit construction sites and conduct pre- and- post occupancy evaluations. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11. Prepares complete interior design contract documents which are in compliance with regulatory and project requirements including floor plans, interior elevations, section details, finish and color schedules, and specifications.
Selects appropriate texture fabrics, floor coverings, furnishings materials, signage/graphics, and furniture materials/systems to create optimum interior space to meet customer needs.
Technical knowledge for professional design concepts, principles and practices applicable to the full range of duties concerned with planning, design, renovation and construction of the interior features of structures.
Responsible for providing leadership to lower graded interior designers and is a technical expert on interior design issues relating to designs prepared by District personnel.
Knowledge to program, plan, design, evaluate, coordinate, advise on and administer interior design projects.
Knowledgeable in budgetary and scheduling tools and is skilled in using them to administer interior design projects.
Through written communication (memorandums, emails, documents, drawings, and sketches) with project stakeholders develops an interior design program based on user needs, budget, schedule, and regulatory requirements.
Communication skills to communicate function, cost, schedule, and aesthetic impact of interior activities.
Maintains technical expertise in various Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software tools including Revit and AutoCAD to develop computer-aided designs.
