Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing safety or occupational health program elements; recommending safety and occupational health policy to higher levels of management; and advising and resolving technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Mishap/Accident Investigation Oral Communication Risk Management Safety and Health Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
Serve as the safety and occupational health manager for all units and activities assigned, attached, or supported by 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command (AAMDC).
Determine safety requirements, formulate plans and methods to improve safety and working environment, and reduce preventable accidents for all Soldiers and civilian employees.
Advise Commanders on Occupational Safety and Health program management, accident prevention and control.
Investigate hazardous conditions, equipment, practices or equipment to identify and analyze the severity of hazard involved and develop corrective action.
Observe work methods and recommends to supervisors/managers corrective measures to eliminate unsafe work practices.
Develop and implement training for collateral duty safety personnel on inspections, accident investigation, and accident reporting.
Ensure safety review and risk assessment of tactical operation plans/orders to ensure safe, realistic training and mission execution.
