Job Description:

The Federal Programs Branch of the Civil Division seeks Paralegal Specialists (GS-950-11) for six-month, non-reimbursable details with the possibility of extensions. Candidates are expected to perform the work in person in accordance with the Department's return to work and telework policies. Applicants should receive supervisory approval before applying and will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Civil Division.
Required Qualifications: Must be a current Department of Justice Paralegal Specialist (GS-950-11) able to pass a security suitability review. This position requires a secret clearance. If you do not currently have a clearance, you must be able to obtain one. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and skill in research, oral communication, written communication, case management, and trial procedure. Under a detail assignment, there is no change to the selectee's base pay. The position will be filled at the employee's current grade level, GS-0950-11.
This is not a remote location position. You will be required to work in person at an agency location on a full-time basis. The Civil Division is seeking Civil Division paralegal specialists (GS-950-11) to serve on a non-reimbursable full-time detail to FPB for a period of six months, potentially renewable for a second six-month period by agreement between the offices. Responsibilities include: Performs factual and legal research of substantial variety and complexity in a legal area. Verifies citations using the bluebook standards and legal references to ensure accuracy. Uses electronic case management systems for litigation support. Contacts and interviews potential witnesses to gather information in preparation for court appearances. Assists attorneys in preparing for all phases of litigation, including pre-trial discovery, motions, hearings, arguments, and trial using electronic databases and equipment.
