THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. NEW MEXICO ARMY NATIONAL GUARD NATIONWIDE. All members of the New Mexico Army National Guard or current Active Duty/Reserve military members eligible and wiling to become members of the New Mexico Army National Guard *This is an indefinite position* This National Guard position is for a PAINTING WORKER, Position Description Number D1217000 and is part of the NM CSMS, National Guard.
Military Grades: Warrant Officer (CW2 and below), Enlisted (E-6 and above) SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's knowledge of any surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Skill in building up, shaping, and leveling surfaces with metal and synthetic resins, plastics, and patching compounds; obtain finely smoothed surfaces with abrasive compounds, pumice, and rottenstone; even out dents and scars by burning-in processes; and treat surfaces with pre-coating agents.
This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. The primary purpose of this position is to prepare and apply coating materials such as paints, varnishes, and rust proofing compounds on stationary and mobile equipment and on combat, tactical, and commercial vehicles. Prepares surfaces (i.e., metal, wood and glass) by removing rust, paint, and loose particles. Sands and evens out dents and scars to assure a smooth and level surface using sanders, scrapers, sandpaper, wire brushes, and paint remover. Applies coatings to specified areas ensuring that that surfaces are free from skips, runs, and drips. Applies rustproof compound to areas such as splash panels, quarter panels, seams structural members, and underbody construction. Applies coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray paint equipment. Prepares coating materials by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in various additives (i.e., retardants, hardeners, drying agents, and other additives). Applies prime, intermediate and final coats of semi-gloss, gloss and other paint, lacquer, enamel, varnish and shellac. Ensures that match, texture and appearance meet finish requirements. Replaces and applies markings/lettering as specified by appropriate manuals Reads and interprets directions that relate to mixture, use, and application of various kinds of coating materials, solvents, and precoating agents. Applies Chemical Agent Reactive Coating (CARC) materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions. Cleans and maintains painting equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
