About the Position: This position is located at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Basic Requirements for Medical Support Assistant GS 06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes scheduling medical appointments; maintaining patient medical records; and reviewing or updating insurance referrals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Healthcare Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
As master scheduler/technical manager of Patient Administration System (PAS) is responsible for the central management of the scheduling/appointing system.
Ensure that all current, new, or visiting providers are in the appropriate medical database systems and profiles them in the appropriate clinics.
Coordinate daily and unexpected changes of provider schedules to include coordination with the TRICARE contractor for patient rescheduling.
Continuously review patient appointment procedures carried out by medical clerks throughout the MEDCEN to ensure consistency and quality of services and compliance with procedures and operating policies.
Trains appointment clerks and clinic medical clerks on scheduling and rescheduling appointments in PAS, equipment use and related activities such as record keeping procedures, third party reimbursements, and reporting requirements.
