Job Description:
You will serve as a Production Safety Manager in the Pipe Shop (Code 960), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience inspecting hazardous Shipyard workplaces to identify unsafe practices or working conditions, the potential for harm to individuals, and the damage to material and property. Experience using knowledge of interrelationships between nuclear and non-nuclear requirements to assess potential impact when conducting surveillances and trend studies. Experience conducting mishap and accident investigations. Experience mining occupational injury and illness data systems to report and develop preventative actions. Experience preparing and presenting oral and written communication regarding complex issues related to the Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental (OSHE) program. You will manage the Code's Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental (OSHE) program compliance.
You will review evaluation reports furnished to the Code.
You will assess work sites/buildings/projects for compliant OSHE work practices.
You will identify hazardous conditions, operations, procedures, and work practices, where the potential for injury, health impairment, and property or material damage exists in production work.
You will provide guidance to production shop mechanics, supervisors, and senior managers.
You will instruct, advise and make recommendations to all levels of workers and management in program requirements.
You will provide interaction with various trades such as Ship Fitters, Sheet Metal Mechanics, Pipefitters, Riggers, Insulators, Machinists, Shipwrights, Electricians, Welders, Toolmakers, etc. who are responsible for execution of production tasks.
You will use IT systems for Occupational Injury and Illness Reporting data, inclusive of personnel names, to assess, track, trend, report and develop preventative actions.
