This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: working with federal, state, municipal, or private protective organizations; Performing facility access control measures granting access to persons and vehicles with appropriate authorization; Operating physical access control equipment such as barriers or other tools to secure buildings or access points; Safeguarding personnel, information and critical assets; Preventing theft, damage and trespass through enforcement of security policy or regulations; Recording visitor information to determine if appropriate authorization for access exists. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Independently performs, with little or no supervision, installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures,
written orders and regulatory requirement as a guide to access determination for a wide range of unique circumstances.
Authenticates identification through use of electronic Personnel Access Control Systems (ePACS), identification cards, badges, biometric automated records, verbal questioning, and other means.
Records visitor information and purpose of visits, as necessary; and may issue short or long term passes or refer visitors to another location to obtain special passes.
Performs Visitor Control Center (VCC) duties.
Incumbent is responsible for performing and resolving a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments.
Operates and performs research queries on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC)vworkstation terminal(s) in accordance with (IAW) federal and state laws.
