About the Position: The incumbent of this position manages both the Security Program and the Safety Program for a transportation battalion at a commercial port, installation or designated facility.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Establishing and monitoring security programs to meet operational needs; 2. Providing advisory services on security, force protection, and safety issues; AND 3. Resolving complex security issues in areas such as Operational, Physical, and Personnel Security, Protection, Information, Antiterrorism and/or classified information programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: cybersecurity, criminal justice, intelligence analysis, computer science, information assurance, security studies, homeland security, or other related fields of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Personnel Security Physical Security Public Safety and Security Security Program Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Manages both the Security Program and the Safety Program for a transportation battalion at a commercial port, installation or designated facility.
Act as primary advisor to the Commander or Chief of Terminal Operations of a Transportation Battalion on security, force protection, and safety issues.
Manages and performs work necessary for the development and execution of plans, policies, and procedures through the command's Physical Security and Crime Prevention Programs.
Responsible for implementing the directives, policies, and regulations relating to physical security, information security, crime prevention program, and defense transportation security programs.
Reviews investigations, trends, and frequency of occurrence, based on analysis of statistic's key factors, and through familiarity of operations
Initiate requests for security clearance in accordance with security regulations and procedures.
Works toward the development and execution of plans, policies, procedures, and training of safety and security programs.
Assumes a key role in the safety and security aspects of the emergency mobilization and exercise action plans.
