Job Description:
Position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Senate Office Buildings, Client Services Division, Senate Staff Health and Fitness Facility. Responsible for administering programs in exercise, general nutrition, stress management, and other preventive health measures to Members of Congress. Provides activities to enhance the health, physical fitness and restorative needs of the Members, including group exercise classes and general strength and balance development.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Candidates for the GS-11 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. You MUST meet (2) of the (3) specialized experience requirements to qualify: Specialized experience is defined as having all of the following: 1.) Experience providing personal training, i.e., cardiovascular conditioning, strength conditioning, mobility and balance. 2.) Experience establishing new and maintaining individual membership accounts utilizing electronic and hard copy records, tracking memberships monthly, billing client accounts bi-monthly, canceling memberships monthly utilizing customer relationship management (CRM) software programs such as Healthcalc, EZFacility, Mind Body, pay.gov. etc. 3.) Experience designing and leading exercise programs for people of diverse and special populations with conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome and orthopedic conditions.
Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday 11:30 am – 8:00 pm Work schedule may require some overtime. Responsibilities include Develops personalized strategies for promoting and coaching health, fitness, and restorative self-care for Members of Congress or Senate staff member. Devises and administers exercise programs designed on request, for individual specific needs. Conducts fitness screenings prior to their entrance into certain exercise programs. Instructs clients of the Senate Health and Fitness Facility in the proper use of the various equipment and facilities, such as treadmills, strength training equipment. Leads exercises in one-on-one settings and group settings. Provides activities to enhance physical fitness and restoration to members of the Senate Health and Fitness Facilities including but not limited to yoga, palates, general aerobic strength, and balance development. Administer basic life support (i.e., CPR/CCR, AED) and first aid as is necessary. Complies with all safety procedures for equipment utilize. Administers and track approximately client records of the Senate Health and Fitness Facility. This includes processing client’s membership agreement; entering client’s name into the data base for tracking monthly payments; and establishing a log-in account in the client tracking software for each client. Creating a payment account in the financial management system for each client and billing client's accounts on the period to be determined, in accordance with the member's membership agreement. Performs other duties as assigned.
