To qualify for the PPW (Shredder Operator), you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element, Job Element #1 to be considered for this position. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the online questionnaire. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT below is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. The screen-out element for this position is: The Ability to do the work of a PPW (Shredder Operator) without more than normal supervision. Applicant must possess the following: 1)ability or skill operating machinery (i.e. shredder/baler, overhead crane or hoist, powered hand truck, chopper, grinder, and Personal Computer(PC); 2) possess skill handling weights and loads operating a forklift truck, and 3) keeping work areas clean and in an orderly condition while observing safety regulations, and 4) possessing knowledge of working in a printing environment as a press helper. Forklift operator license is desirable but can be obtained within the first 6 months. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement to be considered.
Fulfills Press Group Chief instructions regarding job assignments.
Collects waste and hand feeds waste into shredder baler.
Operates shredder/baler to discard designated security waste.
Bales waste per instruction using cardboard retainers and bailing wire; places bales on skid with an overhead crane or hoist.
Disposes of used plates and blankets using a chopper and grinder.
