This position is located in Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate, HQFDNS, Intelligence Division. As an Immigration Officer, you will provide guidance, conduct research for the purpose of enhancing current policies and procedures, and identify, articulate, and pursue suspected immigration benefit fraud.
The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 03/24/2025. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 03/24/2025. GS-12: You qualify at the GS-12 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Utilizing a variety of systems and tools to collect, analyze, and verify immigration-related data; Reviewing immigration information to identify fraud and national security concerns; Preparing responses to immigration-related inquiries from senior management or external customers; and Working both independently and in a collaborative environment to meet mission objectives. GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Responding to sensitive immigration-related inquiries by collecting, analyzing, and evaluating data; Drafting immigration-related reports or summaries in response to Requests for Information (RFI) from supervisors or senior leadership; and Working under pressure with strict deadlines while maintaining high standards for accuracy. Perform anti-fraud, public safety, and National Security related duties consistent with the national effort directed by USCIS's Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate.
Performs investigative functions to safeguard the immigration system by conducting screening and vetting inquiries and performing detailed research and analysis
Work directly with internal and external partners, including USCIS adjudicators, law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and intelligence agencies.
Plans, organizes, and coordinates briefings and information exchange-related programs and projects.
Coordinates studies, and conducts research in order to develop policies, criteria, methods, and techniques for the resolution of advanced program problems.
