You will serve as a Career Path Counselor (Upward Mobility Program) in Shop 38, Production Resource Department at PSNS and IMF. This announcement is for an Upward Mobility Program position. The Upward Mobility Program is a unique job opportunity. This program is designed to provide Department of Navy employees career growth opportunities who have potential but do not presently meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification requirements for this position. The entry level for this position is GS-09 with a full performance level of GS-11. This recruitment is open to current UIC 4523A employees who possess the basic knowledge, skills, and ability at or equivalent to the GS-09 or WG-10 (or higher) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent in the private or public sector demonstrating the ability to analyze, evaluate or assess employee development needs to advise on career planning or development opportunities. Knowledge of employees selected may vary and will require the development of an individually tailored training plan to assist them in qualifying for the full performance level of this position. Eligibility requires that the employee be performing satisfactorily, complete all training requirements, acquire the requisite qualifications and have met time-in-grade eligibility for career ladder promotions. You will promote and conduct individualized development meetings, to educate the workforce and provide employees with resources and activities for career development.
You will meet with employees, individually, to discuss their current position, career goals, explain the trade and command's development programs and provide education or recommendations for further development.
You will be responsible for administrative duties including scheduling and tracking employee meetings, keeping record of employee interactions, plans, and interest for follow-up and developmental progression.
You will enter data into programs like excel and be able to monitor pertinent data to identify and analyze trends and provide management with recommendations to improve the programs ability to effectively develop the workforce.
