Job Description:

This position performs various clerical and administrative duties in support of the organization, performing automation duties such word processing software to prepare correspondence, process mail, answer telephones, and manage office records of various types. This is a Temporary position not to exceed 1039 hours.
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-03/25/2025-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position requires the use of office automation software and the skill of a qualified typist with the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-04 grade level, you must possess at least one or all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: Possess at least one (1) year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. Examples of general experience include, but are not limited to, preparing letters and memos, operating a variety of office equipment, answering telephones, and greeting visitors, disseminating information, providing information, etc. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Have two (2) years of successfully completed education above high school (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours). This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university. IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts that identifies each course of college or university, semester or quarter hours earned, grade received, and date completed. If you are qualifying based on education and you do not submit specific course work information as described previously, your application will be rated not qualified for consideration. (A copy of your official transcripts will be required before entrance on duty, if selected). You must include transcripts. -OR- COMBINATION: have an equivalent combination of education and experience. For example, six (6) months of the general experience (50% of the experience requirement), and one (1) year of college study from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education), equals 100% of the total requirement. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts indicating number of credit hours in order to qualify based on the combination option). You must include transcripts. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP Eligible Candidates: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; specials qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization of least at the well qualified level on all competencies. Major duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Handles incoming calls and greets visitors. Uses computers and appropriate software for data collection, analysis, collating and preparation of reports, forms and tabular material, providing proper spacing, heading and arrangement for ease of understanding and information processing. Prepares and receives incoming /outgoing mail and packages. Establishes, updates and maintains office records of various types. Types 40 wpm.
