This position is part of the Government Publishing and Print Procurement, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia.
To qualify for the Printing Services Specialist, PG -1654-13, you must meet the following requirements: Basic Requirements for 1654: Individual Occupational Requirements Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- journalism, business administration, English composition, commerce, accounting, printing or printing engineering, graphic or commercial art, industrial engineering, or economics. or Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Determining specifications for the printing of manuscript, i.e., selection of typography, layout, composition, format, paper stock, and other printer's instructions. Negotiating or administering contracts for procurement of manuscript and illustrations, printing, binding and allied services, or printing stocks (paper, inks, etc.). Managing a printing plant that produces printing either for the government or private industry customers. Performing production control work in a large printing plant. Serving as a sales representative for a wide variety of printing equipment. Analyzing the price and cost of preparation and production of printing. Planning, estimating, and scheduling printing on a full-time basis for a variety of publications. Performing substantive administrative support or policy functions directly related to publishing and printing program management or operations. In addition to meeting the IOR to minimally qualify for the PG-13 you must have one year of specialized experience at the PG-12 (or equivalent) level or higher. The specialized experience includes 1) providing in-depth guidance and technical instructions to junior level employees in printing and publications management; 2) communicating with customers regarding printing inquiries to include handling printing projects And 3) familiar with software applications for Macintosh and Windows operating systems. publications management. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (04/01/2025) to be considered.
Ensure that all requirements are printed in accordance with Title 44 U.S. Code on Joint Committee on Printing regulations, federal and Government Publishing Office (GPO).
Provide guidance and technical instruction to junior level employees in printing and publications management.
Provide technical advice and consultation to staff.
Monitor contractor compliance.
Respond to customers non-technical and technical needs internally and externally.
