To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Basic Requirements: Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates on Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. AND Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. AND In addition to the Basic Requirements: Education/Work Experience: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. OR At least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level. Some examples of qualifying experience are: Experience working with a full range of established utilization review principles and procedures required to provide integration with the comprehensive plan of care, including care parameters based upon established clinical criteria/guidelines. Experience in working with principles, methods, practices and techniques of administration and management with particular relevance to complex health facilities and public health policies, issues and practices at the Federal, state and local levels. Experience serving as a liaison with personnel at all levels of the organization on matters concerning inmate medical treatment, evaluations, and transfers. Experience maintaining information systems that will monitor all facets of medical designations and transportation processes. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. Position located in a Bureau of Prisons Correctional Institution. Works with the Medical Referral Centers (MRC) and field institutions to collect and provide data that will enhance appropriate and timely medical and mental health designations, allocation of institution resources by analyzing bed utilization, length of stay, and utilization of community health care resources. Serves to promote the development of goals and objectives that support the health services mission of the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Develops and monitors a tracking system for MRC inpatients, outpatients, forensic studies, and inmates requiring dialysis. Completes assessment of the overall treatment plan of care, and reviews both long and short term goals to determine approximate length of stay. Prioritizes transfers based upon patient need and acuity. Assures policies and guidelines for discharge and transfer of inmates are in keeping with the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organization, the American Correctional Association, and applicable federal law. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
