Job Description:

You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER in the Provost Marshal Office/Marine Corps Police Department of MARINE CORPS BASE.
GS-08: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: that provided knowledge of law enforcement operations; gathering intelligence; innovative investigative procedures and techniques, and the use of sophisticated police equipment and weapons for detecting, investigating and resolving crimes and other incidents that are beyond the scope or requirements for solution by regular Police Officers such as performing building and high-ground assaults, perimeter security, serving as a member of a building entry team; utilizing security techniques against snipers, resolving high-risk situations, and providing support to criminal investigations by performing surveillance, assistance on drug raids, search warrants, and apprehensions Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0000/police-series-0083/ Conditions of Employment Continued: Must successfully complete a designated designated USMC Police Officers Course of Instruction and meet all certification requirements, to include weapons certification, CPR, AED, DOD and Joint Training Regulations. Training may be conducted at a regional training facility. You must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety tests, expandable or collapsible baton, and obtain other certifications required to accomplish the duties of a law enforcement officer. You must pass a 1st class Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test Standard as a pre-hire requirement and an annual requirement thereafter. This test consists of two parts; the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) successfully completed between 1 January through 30 June and the Combat Fitness Test (CFT) successfully completed between 1 July and 31 December. SRT members are exempt from the requirement of the Physical Agility Test (PAT). a medical physical evaluation is required for pre-hire and must pass a re-test annually. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Overtime may be required. This position requires rotating shift work. Required to meet the pre-requisites to attend the SRT course and successfully complete SRT course.
You will serve as a full range Police and Special Reaction Team Officer ranging from identifying and enforcing minor violations to identifying, investigating, and apprehensions in felony crimes.
You will serve as a member of the (Special Reaction Team (SRT) that may serve as a designated marksman/observer and as a member of a building entry team.
You will perform building entry in order to affect suspect apprehension and/or evacuate bystanders from the area to prevent/reduce the likelihood of collateral damage.
You will perform building assaults, using close quarters battle skills; perform hostage rescue or other missions of Special Reaction Team (SRT).
You will provide high-ground, perimeter security, and utilize other security techniques against snipers and others.
You will provide controlled assault firepower in certain non-riot situations such as barricaded suspects and/or secure the safe release of hostages.
You will provide support during investigations by performing surveillance, providing assistance on drug raids, search warrants and apprehensions.
You will gather information/intelligence as an ongoing responsibility form the beginning of an incident until its resolution.
You will protect property, equipment and prevent the escape of suspects and/or resolve high-risk situations with a minimum loss of life, injury, and property damage.
You will rescue officers and citizens captured or endangered by gunfire.
You will stabilize situations involving high-risk suicidal subjects.
You will take statements for victims, suspects, and witnesses, to include asking questions to clarify conflicting statements.
You will prepare detailed reports, forms, and citations concerning all incidents and action taken.
You will follow procedures for detaining suspects, making apprehensions and processing suspects.
You will be using computer equipment and specialized, web-based law enforcement computer programs and use databases, including CLEOC and spreadsheets to enter data, retrieve data etc.
You will perform specialized training to prepare for a variety of serious or specialized incidents.
You will communicate orally and in writing to effectively articulate facts and information.
You will execute appropriate actions to protect lives, to include hostages, police personnel, bystanders, and suspects.
You will form an inner perimeter to isolate and contain incidents.
