For GS-05: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: answering telephones, providing information to customers and transferring them to the appropriate individuals. Organizing and filing hard copy documents to ensure monthly reporting requirements are met. Proofreading and printing correspondence for other staff members; and preparing receipts, records, and tracking forms in accordance with current instructions. -OR- Education: Four (4) years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the prerequisite. - OR- Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate undergraduate education. Undergraduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work is typically sedentary. Some work may require periods of walking, standing, bending, or driving a motor vehicle. The incumbent may frequently lift relatively light boxes, materials, and supplies and/or carry file folders, copied materials, books, and other similar materials. Work Environment: Work is typically located in an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office environment. The work environment may involve everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, mail distribution centers, meeting and training rooms, libraries, or motor vehicles.
Manages office files, communications, travel, and training.
Provides expert administrative oversight, review, and editing of all written publications and other documents.
Provides customer service to the public and internal customers; represents the division with responsive customer-centric service.
Communicates services with significant interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy.
Process time and attendance records and prepare travel documents.
Purchase supplies and equipment using simplified acquisition procedures through an integrated charge card program.
Process incoming and outgoing mail transactions, which includes distributing mail to the appropriate staff members and assembling out-going materials.
