To be considered for the position, you must meet the following: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience developing and implementing functional area project teams to foster a product through the manufacturing process. Experience identifying and affecting systems to reduce manufacturing costs through fostering customers' needs through functional areas. Experience creating and implementing program checklists to ensure that no legal, administrative, contract administration, or other task is overlooked during the life of a project. Experience exercising oversight throughout an interactive process from concept request through delivery of the end items to the end user to ensure customer satisfaction. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. Serves as an Operations Manager for Federal Prison Industries, Inc. (UNICOR), a wholly owned federal Government Operation. Integrates the functional areas of Federal Prison Industries (FPI) as they relate to UNICOR products and their customers. Manages the planning, administration, supervision, review and evaluation of an extremely varied combination of performance objectives to meet the customers' requirement. Facilitates conformance of all functional areas to established requirements which enable FPI to meet the end users' delivery. Assignments may be complex in nature and may have multiple components requiring extensive engineering, prototyping, etc., and extensive customer interaction. Plans for and establishes policies for developing and follow-through of all requirements whether self-generated or directed by FPI to meet customer requirements. Evaluates the success of all aspects of tasks, as well as the continuing integration of the Functional Management process. Ensures, to the maximum extent, cost effectiveness in the procurement of materials to meet the customer and Federal Prison Industries mutual goals in producing a product which is priced competitively. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
