Job Description:

The District of Columbia Courts, offers internships for students and recent graduates interested in seeking valuable experience in courts administration. Interns have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the Courts’ mission to protect rights and liberties, uphold and interpret the law, and resolve disputes fairly and effectively in the District of Columbia. This internship is for Summer 2025.
Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized by United States Citizenship and Immigration Service to intern in the U.S and at least 18 years old. THIS INTERNSHIP IS FOR LAW STUDENTS Law students must be enrolled in an accredited law school program. First (1st) year law students are welcome to apply. The student must be able to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week to track ABA credit hour requirements. Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts is required. If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted. The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts’ values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency.
The Civil Division handles: civil actions cases, landlord and tenant cases, small claims cases. This position is an unpaid internship. The intern's major duties are below: Learn about cases regarding tax sale/tax lien. Learn about DC Code Title 47 Chapter 13A and property tax sales. Assist in legal research and writing regarding tax sale cases. Additional task as assigned.
